Can I use HTML in my e-mails?

Yes, you can. In fact, using POSTAGE™ Newsletter Service you can put plain-text and HTML versions in your message, and the e-mail program used by the recipient will automatically display the plain-text version if the HTML version can't be shown for any reason. This looks far more professional than all those e-mails you receive, which only say: 'your program can't display this message, click here ...'.

Can I use graphics in the HTML in my e-mails?

Yes, you can. However, you need to reference to these graphics using what is know as the 'full path', in other words the graphics need to be available on some website you own. But then you can for instance use a logo graphic from your own website in your HTML e-mail.

Can I use Adult Material in my e-mails?

No, you cannot. However, if you pay extra fee for "Adult Material Allowed", you will be allowed to include "Adult Material" in your emails.

Why do us have this limit? Our newsletter service is a shared environment. This being said, consider that an average "adult site" gets more hits than 100 standard websites. With these types of resources being utilized, our servers would be severely slowed if we allowed these high traffic newsletter to also reside on our servers. On top of that, we would be forced to raise our prices to pay for the additional bandwidth.

Questions about spam prevention

What is double opt-in?

With a double opt-in system, potential subscribers have to confirm twice that they want to be on your mailing list. Here's how it works: a website visitor enters his/her name and e-mail address and clicks the Submit button. Our software sends an e-mail to the address specified in which the rest of the subscription process is explained. This is the first step. Contained in this e-mail is a link that the visitor needs to click to confirm he/she is interested in the subscription. This leads to a page on which the details of the subscription are shown once more. Only when the visitor clicks the OK button on that page, the subscription is confirmed. That's step two. Since the process consist of two steps of confirmation, the process is called double opt-in.

What do I do when someone wants to unsubscribe?

You don't have to do anything, the software handles it all. At the end of every e-mail message you send there is a link that reads "Click here if you want to unsubscribe". When the recipient of the e-mail clicks the link, he/she opens a page on which the unsubscription process continues. This is all completely automated. Of course, a subscriber can always unsubscribe in between receiving two newsletters, by simply filling out an unsubscribe form on your website. This is also completely automated.
